Invite

As Mission1Race gears up for another year, we take September to focus on invitation to others. This month precedes all our 1Community kickoffs, and before the event prep has gotten into full swing. It’s a great time to invite people who are already walking beside you in the effort to bring understanding and oneness to our world.

The question: Who is walking beside you?

Friends: Think about the conversations you’ve had with like-minded friends. What friends have expressed interest in social justice and would like to join you in this work? Who among your friends would love to be a part of putting effort towards creating understanding and furthering oneness. Who among your friends would relish working with those now struggling against one another, or those struggling in isolation and discrimination?

Family: Are you trying to teach your kids about understanding and oneness in a world that oftentimes seems diametrically opposed to such realities? Why not have the whole family join an M1R event, giving the kids a real-life taste of the work? Why not invite your parents to participate? They can get to know your passion, or maybe even have an outlet for their own passion! Why not invite your spouse, creating a shared venture that not only participates in furthering understanding and oneness in the world, but also within your relationship?

Fence sitters: Do you have coworkers or other acquaintances who are content to sit idly by, enjoying privelege, but not interested in the fight to bring that same privelege to others? Why not invite them to an event or a 1Community meeting, allowing them to hear experiences and passions from others?

Perhaps as you read this, someone specific came to mind. Invite them to dip their toes into the water that is a movement of passion for understanding and work towards oneness between all. Who knows what could happen from a single invite!
