The Journey, Begun

Updated: May 12

The LORD is good to all;     he has compassion on all he has made. All your works praise you, LORD;     your faithful people extol you. They tell of the glory of your kingdom     and speak of your might, so that all people may know of your mighty acts     and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,     and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is righteous in all his ways     and faithful in all he does. The LORD is near to all who call on him,     to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who [revere] him;     he hears their cry and saves them. The LORD watches over all who love him,     but all the wicked he will destroy. (Ps 145.9-20 NIV)

We have launched! Mission1Race has a beautiful new website, a budding social media

presence, the beginnings of regular podcast releases, and working towards the development of 1Comunities (small groups of people living and growing in love for one another). The beautiful documentary, Man on a Mission: The Search for Oneness, has been released and is available for viewing. For all the prayers and the anxiety and the hope, another milestone has been crossed on this crazy, exciting journey! As the northern hemisphere moves into the hope of new life during this springtime, and the world experiences the hope of rejoining community after the isolation of global pandemic, M1R moves into the hope of touching lives that need it the most.  Have you ever noticed the euphoria of those in love? The rest of the world dims from focus, as the loved one becomes front and center. Their attention is beautifully captured by the other in a way that brings song to the mind and tears to the eyes. Faults and annoyances are diminished in significance because one is captured by the strengths of the other. Now transition your thoughts to the elderly couple who’ve spent a lifetime living with love towards one another. It’s as if they are saying, “I see your weaknesses and how you’ve grown. I see what you’ve brought to me, and what I’ve brought to you. I see how we have affected each other. I see that we still affect each other. I tread tenderly when it comes to your heart because I know you’ve given me power in your life. And I am also deeply vulnerable to you, having let you into the shame I feel deep inside myself.” With our launch, M1R is stepping into a lifetime of living with love. To the world we say, “We have been captured by your beauty. The glory and promise we see in the faces of your masses is astounding. We also see your weaknesses, and we see how you can grow. We see what you’ve brought to us, and also what we can bring to you. We see your effect on us, and that we can be effective with you. We tread tenderly with your heart, because we see the brokenness and know the pain that you walk with every day. We are also vulnerable to you, knowing our own shame and fears and weaknesses. Come, let us take the long journey together towards love and oneness.” Lord, be with us now! We are excited! We have crossed a milestone, and it feels so good! To cross into a place of new beginning is as hopeful as spring! And we are also so intimately aware of the need for your wisdom and an ever deepening sense of your love. We know that we have stepped into the realm of darkness, and are taking a stand against the tides of evil. It is a trepidatious ambition to step into the sights of the evil forces of the world, to publicly align with the love that so often feels weak and easily crushed. But we know with whom we stand. We know you are bigger, and have already won the war to end all wars. And so we press into your embrace, as we take a stand with love, and for love in a hurting world. Amen.  - Becky Miller
